COLOR
This body of work explores painterly surfaces of color and mark making. I use porcelain clay, underglazes and 23 karat gold leaf or gold lustre. Each piece is hand painted, usually wheel-thrown and each one is unique. I’ve chosen to keep the exteriors unglazed, creating a more nuanced experience of the painterly surfaces, and a fresh, contemporary feel. Pieces are polished and finished with a non-toxic wax.
Asymmetry, spontaneity, and fluidity in form and surface are intended characteristics in my work..
